Batman’s Summerhouse

The cabin was built in the 1930s for a man-servant or Batman, of the owner - a military gentleman. It was constructed from the valley timber with south facing windows that looked out onto the river and had a flourishing greenhouse on one end.

The cabin interior makes reference to the original, Batman, with old school hard wood and brass furniture, collections of vintage kitchenalia, original artworks and a selection of indoor plants from hanging boxes and vintage plant stands. Bespoke furniture has been handmade in the riverside workshop, such as the unique gentlemen’s washstand in the bathroom. Behind the central tiled fireplace is a secret set of steps which leads up to a second cosy bedroom under the eaves.

On warm days the dining end of the cabin opens up to connect with the garden and deck outside. You can fish for wild salmon and trout on the private 200m stretch of river.
